Overview: Why wait till medical training to learn about the best organ system in the body? This activity is similar to the NNCI’s other Brain Cookie Exercises, the 3-D Brain Module, and the Play-Doh Brain module, but is specifically geared toward a younger audience (elementary to high school). Learners are introduced to neuroscience concepts by reviewing the unique components of a neuron in the form of a large cookie. Like the other modules, this exercise encourages joy in learning by using multimodal sensory experiences (and a sweet treat!). The activity can be completed in a classroom or family setting.
